Patteurn Japanese
Privacy Policy
Short version: Patteurn Japanese has no accounts and no sign-up. Everything you study — your progress, streaks, settings and unlocked content — is stored only on your own device. We do not sell, rent or share your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Who we are
Patteurn Japanese ("the App") and this website are provided by Patteurn Education Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17472722). Our registered office is Unit A 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall Industrial Estate, Suffolk, United Kingdom, IP28 7DE. We are the data controller for the processing described in this policy. 2. What stays on your device
The following never leaves your phone unless you deliberately export it:
- Card review history, spaced-repetition schedules, mastery levels and streaks
- Deck and minigame progress, story progress, bond levels, collected items
- App settings (font size, audio preferences, display options)
- Records of which content you have unlocked through in-app purchase
This data is written to the device's own app storage. It is included in your device's regular iCloud/iTunes backup if you have that enabled, under Apple's control rather than ours. Deleting the App deletes this data. The App also offers a manual backup/share function; a file is created only when you tap that button, and it goes wherever you choose to send it.
3. What is sent off the device

The weather feature is opt-in. Nothing is sent to Open-Meteo unless you type a city name in Settings. The App never requests location permission and never performs an IP-based location lookup. Clear the city field to switch it off completely.
4. This website
patteurn.com has no accounts, cookies, analytics or advertising, and it loads no third-party scripts or fonts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
If you email us, for example to ask for launch news, we use your address and message only to reply to you, and we delete them once they are no longer needed for that.
5. What we do not do
- No advertising and no advertising SDKs
- No analytics or behavioural-profiling SDKs
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, so the App never shows the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt
- No selling or sharing of personal information (as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA)
- No account, no password, no e-mail collection in the App
6. Legal basis (UK and EEA users)
Where the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies, we process crash diagnostics on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable and secure (Art. 6(1)(f)), audio and weather requests on the basis of performing the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b)), emails you send us on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering them (Art. 6(1)(f)), and the optional weather feature only on your own initiative.
7. Retention
On-device data lives until you delete it or delete the App. Crash reports are retained by Sentry under their standard retention period (90 days) and are then deleted automatically. We do not maintain any other database about you.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no information that identifies you, we normally cannot locate "your" records on request — there is nothing keyed to you. You can nonetheless:
- Erase everything: delete the App, or use Settings ▸ reset inside the App.
- Stop the optional weather look-up: clear the city field in Settings.
- Ask about crash data: write to hello@patteurn.com with the approximate date and device model and we will search our crash records and delete any match.
UK and EEA users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their national data-protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Crash diagnostics are stored in the European Union. Audio and this website are served from Cloudflare's global network, so a request may be served by a data centre in your own region or elsewhere.

12. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects what leaves your device, note it in the App's release notes.
